Things to Read and Watch

For the past couple weeks I've been too busy to blog, but I have managed to collect a list of things that I've read/watched recently and LOVED.

When should you get pregnant? (Article)

A Sane Woman's Guide to Raising a Large Family, by Mary Ostyn, and Raising a Large Family, by Katherine Schlaerth, M.D. (Books)

Dr. Schlaerth, mother of seven, and Mary Ostyn, mother of 10, certainly have plenty of experience with children! I read these after finding that many of the standard parenting books assume that parents have only 1 or 2 children, which isn't quite what NaturalGuy and I are planning. Both discuss the joys of having more than 2 children, as well as giving practical advice for handling common parenting challenges. Ostyn's book may be particularly interesting to couples interested in adoption - six of her children were adopted.

Eggsploitation, by the Center for Bioethics and Culture (Movie)

A challenging documentary about the serious medical risks faced by egg donors. NaturalGuy and I watched with a mix of horror and fascination. We highly recommend watching it, and we're hoping to watch the other two documentaries in this series soon.

Hey America, Pregnancy: You're doing it wrong! (Article)
